Lately...

Why hello my pretties, thank you for stopping by after what has clearly been, quite the lengthy digital hiatus on all accounts! The last couple of months have passed in the blink of an eye… mid August already? Sheesh. Now that I'm finally on top of things, (or so it seems!) here's a little update of what I've been up to and what's to come!

Byron Bay Bridal Showcase
If you follow my facebook page, you will know about my involvement in the BBBS and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. If you didn't make it down, don't despair - I will be dedicating an entire post to this next week as a brief write up in this post certainly does not do it justice! The event was one of the most inspiring I've ever been a part of - definitely NOT your run-of-the-mill expo. It was completely jam packed with a whole lot of loveliness from lots of super-talented suppliers, including the fabulous Jennifer Gifford who organised the whole event. Massive credit and thank you to you Jen! Until next week, here's an image of the styled space that 'Team Bohemian' created (Love Bird Weddings, Just Love to Give, Beautiflora and yours truly!), shot by Ryder Evans Photography (an incredible wedding photographer too I might add).

New ready-made design
In lieu of the BBBS, you may have noticed we did not release a new design last month however, an exciting NEW design will released very soon. Stay tuned for a little sneak peak and the release date...

Custom launch
WITHLOVE is now available for your custom design needs! Hooray! This has been a long-time coming and I'm so excited to offer my services to clients who want an invitation and stationery suite created just for them... from scratch! So if you dig our style, but it's not quite what you're looking for, contact me for a custom quote. More information to come on the website soon!

Real Wedding :: Kyrie + Rob

Hello there my lovelies, do I have a treat for you today! I've been bursting to share this stunning wedding with you all for quite some time now and after playing catch-ups, it's finally here! So without further ado, meet Kyrie + Rob. This lovely couple were married in June last year and as you will see from the fabulous images captured by Focus Films, the day was absolutely beautiful - Kyrie is flawless!

Kyrie + Rob :: Saturday 25 June 2011
Mt Cotton, Brisbane, Queensland

Kyrie first met Rob when a company she worked for paid for personal training sessions for their staff - Rob was one of the trainers. "I started doing 4 sessions a week with him and the 3 days I didn't get to see him, I was really sad! After a few months we randomly bumped into each other whilst out one night and we've been together ever since!"

The proposal took place a week after Kyrie's birthday. Kyrie reminisces, "Rob surprised me with a picnic at New Farm Park, which is also where we had our first date. He got down on one knee, I cried, he cried. It was very sweet and romantic."

Theme :: "Classic with a hint of vintage."

Ceremony Location :: Kyrie + Rob's ceremony took place by the Laguna at Sirromet Winery, Mt Cotton, Brisbane. "It was a beautiful winter's day, surrounded by all the poeple we love. I walked down the aisle to our favourite song, Come Away with Me by Norah Jones. My family are Mormon, so we had a Morman Bishop marry us. He is actually a long time family friend and has known me since I was a baby, so it was very special."

Reception Venue :: The reception was held at Restaurant Lurleen's also at Sirromet Winery. "The staff were amazing, the food was incredible, the whole night was unbelievable."

Wedding Gown :: Kyrie was breaktaking in an ivory ball gown from Darb Bridal Couture. "It was probably the 10th dress I tried on and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was the one! It fit perfectly with our theme of classic, with a hint of vintage. I felt amazing in it, just like you should on your wedding day!" Kyrie sourced the bridesmaids dresses from Country Road."I had bought the dress for myself, a few months prior to the engagement and it was only until after Rob and I got engaged, I thought how well it would translate to bridesmaids dresses and the girls agreed. We were also really lucky to find matching shoes at Nine West!"

Groom's Attire :: "I actually didn't see their suits until I was walking down the aisle on our wedding day! Rob surprised me and picked the boys suits himself. It was a little nerve-racking considering he didn't know what my dress was like either! But they all looked really handsome and it worked out well!" Nice work boys - very dapper!

Photographer
:: Focus Films did an outstanding job of documenting Kyrie + Rob's day. "They captured the moments, rather than created the moments and we have had endless comments on how amazing our photos are. They also captured our day on video, which is so special to watch, it's like a mini movie. They went above and beyond for us by providing two videographers on the day and by actually listening to what we wanted!"

Florist:: The stunning floral arrangements, bouquets and buttonholes were from The Lily Bean. "We are lucky enough to have an amazing friend who is a florist. She is just incredible, such an artistic and creative genius. She did everything from the bridal bouquets to the button holes and wishing well to the abundance of flowers on our reception tables."

Other recommended suppliers :: As favours for their guests, Kyrie sourced lavender and coconut macarons from Chouquette. Heidi from The Powder Room, who was the makeup artist for the bridal party was "AMAZING" and Kyrie also highly recommends Valerie from Raven Hair (phone 07 3831 6003).

Tips and advice for other brides :: "Keep perspective – remember it's about the two of you! And make a budget AND stick to it!"

Most treasured moment of the day :: "The 50 minute car ride out to Sirromet with my Dad. It was just us two and was very special! " The car ride home from the reception with her new husband was equally memorable, giving them quality time together to take in the events of the day. Kyrie mentions that "seeing Rob in his suit for the first time on the day" was also a beautiful moment, as was "watching our niece cry during the ceremony as she recited a poem about love." Kyrie also enjoyed the speeches at the reception, Rob's in particular. "Rob's went for about 20 mins and wasn't written down. We were told it was the best groom's speech any of our guests have ever heard to this day!" Too sweet.

Creative/Personal Touches
:: As a way of including Kyrie's younger brother, "We had a life size cardboard cut out at the wedding as he was over in Germany at the time serving a mission and could not be there."A lovely touch which I'm sure would have entertained the guests!

The Details

Stationery chosen :: The couple chose our 'Love Is...' design, which was printed on 100% environmentally friendly paper stock using colour swatches 'lavender' & 'lilac' from our colour chart. Kyrie + Rob preferred a smaller size invitation/thank you card over our standard DL size so we altered the design to fit within these size requirements. We also sourced natural brown kraft paper envelopes to finish. We produced double-sided folded invitations personalised with guest names and customised double-sided accommodation and transport information cards. For the reception, we designed a table seating chart (which Kyrie placed in a gorgeous custom made frame), tent-folded personalised place cards and double-sided table number cards. Finally we produced double-sided thank you cards with the printed message. "Having our stationery professionally made saved a lot of time and energy and you could tell the designs were very professionally and uniquely done."

Kyrie + Rob thank you cards

"From start to finish, Jackie was attentive, helpful and has such amazing attention to detail! The stationery suite went perfectly with our theme and the look and feel our our day. Rob and I received so many positive comments - I would recommend Jackie's designs and services to everyone and can't wait to work with her again in the near future."

Thank you for sharing your beautiful story Kyrie + Rob - we too look forward to working with you again soon! ;-)

Real Wedding :: Nat + Dan

Introducing Nat + Dan, married in September last year. From the moment Nat contacted me to discuss their wedding, I was thrilled to be working with them. Nat positively glowed when sharing details of their wedding plans - such a sweet, polite and happy couple!

Nat + Dan :: Saturday 10 September 2011
Rosalie, Brisbane, Queensland

Nat and Dan met while studying law together at QUT in 2003 to 2006. They didn't become an couple until 2007, when they both undertook postgraduate studies to become admitted as solicitors. The proposal was "simple, yet meaningful," Nat explains, "Daniel isn't the type of person to propose in front of 100 people, or someone who would skydive out of a plane in a suit holding a ring. Instead, he took me to the Roma Street parklands which was where he took me on our first date in 2007 for a moonlight wine tasting tour. He seemed uneasy and I soon realised why when he unexpectedly pulled a magnificent diamond ring from his pocket. Both sets of parents knew in advance that Dan would be popping the question that weekend and were in Brisbane to celebrate."

Theme :: "Classical elegance."

Ceremony Location :: The couple were married by Father Frank O'Dea at Sacred Heart Church, Rosalie. "We are especially thankful to Father Frank who took the time to get to know us and tailored the ceremony to suit the two of us. He also married Dan's parents almost 30 years ago so it was special that he was able to marry us."

Reception Venue :: Brett's Wharf, Hamilton. "Juliette Buhot and the team at Bretts Wharf were very professional and organised and took the stress out of planning the reception. Being Alastair McLeod's restaurant, the food was exquisite too!"

Wedding Gown :: Nat looked stunning in a Alberta Ferretti silk organza gown, which a friend of hers purchased for her during a visit to Paris. "I knew that it would be to my taste – very feminine sleek fit which is classic Alberta Ferretti. With sheer silk chiffon sleeves and overlay, it is hand beaded with Swarovski crystals and pearls. I secretly hid it at the top of my closet in my old bedroom at my parents' home so that Daniel wouldn't find it. I also wore a vintage beaded and laced headpiece Jill bought from Paris and an ostrich feather bolero to keep warm during the evening." Nat's shoes were by Rodo, purchased from Maryon's Shoes in the Brisbane Arcade. Nat's bridesmaids were radiant in Lisa Ho grecian-style floor length gowns.

Groom's Attire :: The groom and groomsmen were very smart in chic black and white dinner suits, by Elio Moda, Brisbane, finished with black dress shoes.

Photographer
:: Choosing a photographer was an easy decision for Nat and Dan - "Peter and Mary Lindley of Sheldonlea Studio have taken our family photos for years - they are almost a part of the family."

Florist:: Nat and Dan placed their trust in florist and stylist, Beth Webb from Divine Flowers and with good reason - her work is amazing. Nat says, "She arranged all of our bouquets, the boutonniere for the boys as well as coordinated the entire reception styling. She has a great eye for design and colour."

Kate + Adrian by April Werz

Other recommended suppliers :: Nat and Dan hired 3 x black Rolls Royces by Continental Wedding Limousines - "two mates who love their cars and team up on weekends to do weddings. They were lovely blokes!" Nat and Dan were also very impressed with their cake, a traditional fruit cake by Greg Clearly of Sweetums Designer Cakes based in Kenmore. "His website is amazing!"

Tips and advice for other brides :: "No matter how well you plan, something will go wrong. Don't worry about it; someone else will fix it. It is a big day so break it up into parts and enjoy each part before you move on to the next. Practice walking down the aisle with a friend. It will help you get used to it so that when it actually happens and the music is playing, you will be able to enjoy the moment and focus on the man at the end."

Most treasured moment of the day :: Aside from marrying the man of her dreams, Nat recalls, "During the ceremony, when I turned and locked eyes with the Best Man, he mouthed one word...wow. He is Dan's best friend and the three of us lived together before we were married so we have become friends too. During their speeches, both the Father of the Bride and Best Man quoted lines from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice as marriage advice. They both know me well." Natalie also decribes their first dance as another beautiful memory. "We danced a foxtrot to Green Eyes by Coldplay played live. This is relevant as on our third date Dan invited me over to his place for his specialty, pesto pasta. He had prepared a play list for the night and Green Eyes was the third track."

Kate + Adrian by April Werz

Kate + Adrian by April Werz

Creative/Personal Touches :: "On our gift table, we had individual photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day. This was a way of including our grandparents who are no longer with us and acknowledging our heritage." Additionally, the couple organised canapes for their bridal party at "Claret House Wine Bar in Teneriffe before heading out to Bretts Wharf, Hamilton for the reception. The old wool stores at Teneriffe provided an excellent backdrop for photos."

The Details

Stationery chosen :: The couple selected our 'A Little Luxe' design which was printed on our 'ice gold' metallic paper stock and by using our 'stone' colour swatch as an overlay on the stock, we were able to achieve a slightly deeper result. Paired with our 'deep plum' colour swatch, the result was beautifully rich. The couple decided against embellishing the stationery and preferred a more simplistic look. We really enjoyed working with them to create each and every piece and after seeing photos from their day, their wedding stationery could not have been any more fitting!

We designed double-sided folded invitations personalised with guest names & customised double sided rsvp, information and 'next day' cards (the couple had organised a lunch with their guests for the following day), along with two table seating charts, customised personalised placecards, favour tags, customised tri-fold table signage for the reception and order of service booklets for the ceremony. The couple decided against tent-folded placecards so we custom designed flat cards to sit upon the napkins. Nat and Dan wanted to use names of famous golf courses instead of numbers on their table signage, as Dan is a keen golfer, so we ran the names vertically. This allowed the text to remain at a size that would still be prominent from a distance, while maintaining an attractive design and making it easy for guests to locate their table. Additionally, we put together their order of service booklets from cover to finish, using black text on a white coated stock on the inside as a contrast to the strong colour on palette used the cover. Finally, we produced double-sided tent-folded thank you cards including an image from the day.

"We loved your 'A Little Luxe' collection and we chose it because the design is simple yet stylish. The emblem is sophisticated but the text is modern and the two together work well. I have received so many invitations over the years with buckles and ribbon that have fallen off or are crooked which looks a little tacky. With Love's designs are so modern yet classy and the paper and print job is of such a high quality. We received numerous comments about the quality and professionalism of the invitation suite and ceremony and reception pieces. Jackie, you have an incredible talent, an eye for design and were easy to deal with. We loved that you could adapt your design to suit our needs - I'm so glad I found you."

Thank you Nat and Dan, we wish you all the very best!
